(Guardian) - Guns and ammunition discovery in car on M1 in South Yorkshire stokes police fears that terror attack was imminent.
Counter-terrorism officials believe a suspected terrorist plot to attack a target in the UK has been foiled after a chance stop of a car containing guns and ammunition.
Seven people have been arrested after two firearms were found in the vehicle which was stopped in South Yorkshire on Saturday on the M1 because it had no insurance.
Investigations by counter-terrorism detectives and MI5, sources say, have led officials to believe that it was likely an attack against at least one specific target was being planned.
While they could not be sure when it might have occurred, the possibility of it being imminent was sufficiently high for the security service and police to decide arrests had to be made, rather than allowing the plot to develop to secure better evidence for any court case.
The firearms recovered fired single rather than multiple rounds, and they were not automatic weapons capable of rapid fire. The car was seized and impounded after an automatic number plate recognition system flagged it for having no insurance.
A search found the weapons and ammunition hidden inside. Other material found in the car led police to link the weapons find to terrorism, they said.
Police traced the driver and passenger of the car, making arrests on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Six men from Birmingham and one from Kirklees, West Yorkshire, have been arrested.
Police said the investigation was linked to "international terrorism", meaning that they believe any planned attack was inspired by the al-Qaida ideology of violence.
The news of the arrests came a day after police in London arrested six people over a separate suspected plot, and in a sign of increased nervousness before the Olympics, after a bogus terrorism scare on a coach on a Midlands motorway sparked from vapour from a cigarette replacement aide. continue reading

Thus, the terrorist activities, including kidnappings, bombings of civilian infrastructure, the bombing of radio stations, the murder on journalists have increased. With their friendly help, the friends of Syria have succeeded at beefing up the NATO/GCC led mercenary army in Syria to such a degree that it could commit the friendly act of mass murder in Al-Houla, not to speak about the daily massacres that are taking place in their befriended Syria, which are paid and financed by them.
The vultures, sorry, I mean “friends” are so kindhearted that they are already establishing a bureau in Berlin, which is sponsored by Germany and the United Arab Emirates. Naturally, a real friend will make sure that he can earn a little on rebuilding the country for which destruction he has been investing oh so much. Drag Russia into a long and protracted war in the Middle East, Afghanistan-USSR Style ? That´s of course an option. Manufacture another confrontation in Ossetia ? Not unlikely, since Rambling Rummie Rumsfeld has just been on a visit to Georgia. Riots in Tibet ? IT´s always possible to play the Dalai CiaLama Card. Color revolution in Belorussian cities ? Already tried it, but maybe a second attempt will be more successful ? More executed Iranian nuclear scientists ? Right, the Mossad boys are good at that kind of friendship. Mentally Handicapped Man In Pakistan Set On Fire and Killed By Muslim Mob After He Tore Pages From the Qur'an
The unidentified man, described by one police official as mentally disabled, was brutally tortured by the mob while police efforts to protect the man failed as the crowd turned violent.

BAHAWALPUR: In a harrowing incident of mob justice, hundreds of people accused a ‘deranged’ man of sacrilege, mercilessly beat him and burnt him alive in southern Punjab, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Chanighot area of Bahawalpur on Tuesday evening. Residents saw a man allegedly throwing pages from the Holy Quran onto the street. Local police took him into custody and put him in the lockup.
The news spread like a forest fire in the neighbourhood – and soon a frenzied mob gathered outside the Chanighot police station baying for blood.
Police couldn’t stand up to the furious and violent crowd who got hold of the alleged blasphemer, described by one police official as deranged, and brutally tortured him.
Some officers fired tear gas canisters to disperse the mob – but the emotionally charged people refused to hand over the alleged blasphemer and instead turned against the police officers, according to Ghulam Mohiuddin Gujjar, the station house officer (SHO) of Chanighot police station.
Nine police officers, including SHO Gujjar and DSP Rana Naveed Mumtaz, were injured while trying – though unsuccessfully – to rescue the man.
The mob burnt down several police vehicles, including DSP Mumtaz’s four-wheeler, before getting hold of the man, who has not been identified.
Once the unidentified man was in the mob’s custody, he was dragged to the Chanighot Chakar (roundabout), where he had allegedly desecrated the Holy Quran, doused him in petrol and set him on fire.
SHO Gujjar said they have registered two FIRs against 1,500-2,000 people.
DPO Bahawalpur Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir told The Express Tribune that police reinforcement has been sent to the area to bring the situation under control. He added that they were investigating the incident.
Jehangir said that an additional police force had been deployed in Chanighot police station to avoid any untoward incident. The man’s body was shifted to a local hospital for autopsy.
The Muslim Brotherhood is an enemy of freedom, America and American interests throughout the world - not the least of which is our one true ally in the middle east, Israel.

(Egypt Independent) - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to visit Cairo on 14 July, said acting Egyptian presidential spokesperson Yasser Ali on Monday.
President Mohamed Morsy is scheduled to receive Clinton on her first visit to Egypt since the start of his presidency. Clinton aims to discuss the relations between the two countries as well as broader developments in the region.
Clinton will also express her congratulations to President Morsy on gaining the people’s trust and becoming Egypt’s first democratically elected president.

Great news: Ahmadinejad calls to congratulate Morsy
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinjad called Egyptian President Mohammed Morsy to congratulate him on his win in Egypt's Presidential election and to invite him to a summit of the Non-Aligned Countries. Egypt and Iran have not had diplomatic relations in more than 30 years.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Mursi on Wednesday to wish the Muslim Brotherhood politician success, the Egyptian state news agency reported.
The call appeared to be the first contact between the two leaders since Mursi was sworn in as president of Egypt, a country which has not had diplomatic relations with Tehran for 30 years.
Ahmadinejad invited Mursi to attend a summit of the Non-Aligned Movement scheduled to be held in Tehran on August 29, the state news agency said, quoting Mursi's spokesman. It did not say whether he had accepted.
Ties between Cairo and Tehran were severed in 1980 following Iran's Islamic revolution and Egypt's recognition of Israel.

Bee's Note: Yesterday afternoon, in-between the day long celebration of America's Independence Day, I happened to catch a discussion on Fox News about the latest apology of this administration - this time, to Pakistan. My head was ready to explode and not from last night's fireworks! Throughout the discussion, the administration's representative spoke about the necessity to apologize to Pakistan in order to open the supply lines and allow our troops to pass through with ALL our military equipment, as we begin the process of leaving Afghanistan. After all, we "would have to leave our military equipment behind", the representative said. Really? How about blowing it up rather than leaving it behind? And just how much equipment is actually going to be taken out of Afghanistan, when our country will be "aiding" Afghanistan for years to come, with both military and financial aid. Haven't we also been training Afghanistan people to "defend themselves", even though they dress up in our own Army uniforms and shoot our troops in the back of their heads?! I read an article about a year ago stating that we had left behind, in Iraq, much of our military equipment and now that country, without US troops left behind, is blowing itself up. Does anyone think it will be different in Afghanistan once our troops leave?
But, I'm not talking about Afghanistan. This morning, let's talk about the apology by this administration to Pakistan. And, before we go to Clinton's apology (below), I thought I would also make an apology to Pakistan:
1. To the leaders of Pakistan: I'm so sorry you held the Number One terrorist, bin-Laden, the Talaban leader responsible for 9/11, under your protection for the past six(?) years. Who will ever know how the war might have been shortened if we had captured him years ago?
2. I am so sorry the Islamic terrorist organizations running freely throughout your country are responsible for the deaths of United States troops throughout the past 10 years.
3. Please forgive the USA for their continual and on-going bribes/aid to the tune of BILLIONS of DOLLARS, to your country's leaders just for the sake of allowing us to fight those same terrorists within your borders. You may have Nukes, but your people are starving.
4. I am so sorry that 24 of your "soldiers" were killed in an airstrike last November; after all, who knows if they were actual soldiers or just another group of rag-tag terrorists? War is hell and your country certainly is a hotbed of warmongering Islamic, Taliban and al-Qaeda "soldiers".
5. And lastly, but not least, I am so sorry you find it necessary to murder Christians under Sharia laws within your borders, under your government's laws. This is just one demonstration that your country, and all countries under Islamic laws, are not ready to enter modern-day civilization. Please accept our apology for actually thinking or promoting your country as one of America's so-called enemies/friends and ally.
6. Please forgive the United States, if after November's elections, we decide to cut off ALL aid to your country in our efforts to stop aiding and abetting our enemies - Pakistan will be at the top of our list. This false idea that because you have nuclear capabilities, America needs to keep you on our foreign aid program is the biggest farce presented to the American people.

(Fox News) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apologized Tuesday for the NATO airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers last year -- and announced that Pakistan has in turn agreed to re-open supply lines into Afghanistan that have been closed since the incident.
The deadly airstrike last November crippled already-damaged relations between the United States and Pakistan. Islamabad retaliated by shutting down vital supply lines into Afghanistan, and the two sides had been struggling ever since to reach a deal -- with a U.S. apology said to be a key demand of the Pakistanis.
Clinton delivered that apology Tuesday morning during a phone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.
"We are sorry for the losses suffered by the Pakistani military," Clinton said in a statement.
She said that during the phone call, she "once again reiterated our deepest regrets for the tragic incident" last November, and "I offered our sincere condolences to the families of the Pakistani soldiers who lost their lives."
Clinton added: "We are committed to working closely with Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent this from ever happening again."
The Defense and State departments confirmed that Pakistan has in turn agreed to re-open the shuttered supply routes. Clinton said in her statement she was "pleased" to announce the opening, and noted Pakistan would not charge a transit fee, which had been a source of contention.
"This is a tangible demonstration of Pakistan's support for a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Afghanistan and our shared objectives in the region," Clinton said.
The statement followed signs that such a deal was near. Gen. John Allen, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, had visited Islamabad twice over the last week to help seal the deal.
Pentagon spokesman Capt. John Kirby told Fox News that no vehicles or convoys have started moving across the border yet but confirmed the deal. The closure since November has cost the U.S. more than $2 billion.

(WND) - The government is once again promoting the idea of “those who are reverent of individual liberty” being terrorists with a new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security.
The study and related data were recently produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, or START, at the University of Maryland. START was launched with a $12 million grant from DHS and is recognized by the organization as one of its “Centers for Excellence.” In December, DHS announced it was renewing START’s funding with another $3.6 million.
The report noted that nearly one-third of all terrorist attacks from 1970 to 2008 occurred in five metropolitan counties run by Democrats. The counties were Manhattan, New York, Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade County, San Francisco County and Washington, D.C. The report went on to list groups by ideology such as right-wing, left-wing, religious and single issue.
Interestingly, the report appears to have key data missing when it comes to Islamic terrorism.
On Page 22, Table 4 lists “hot spots” for religious terrorism by decade. For the 1990s, it shows there was no religious terrorism in New York or Los Angeles and only two terrorist attacks during the 2000s.
Ruth King, writing for Ruthfully Yours, noted that the report apparently does not consider the 1993 World Trade Center bombing to be terrorism. Also omitted was a 1994 shooting by Rashid Baz, who killed 16-year-old Jewish student Ari Halberstam and attempted to murder dozens more in a van on the Brooklyn Bridge.
The report also ignores the 2002 shooting at the El Al ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airport. Following the attack, which killed two and wounded four others, the FBI and Justice Department concluded that the shooter, Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, was an Egyptian terrorist who wanted to be a Muslim martyr.
Also, by cutting the report off at 2007, it was able to omit events such as the Fort Hood massacre by Maj. Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 people and wounded 29 others, and the Little Rock Army recruiting center, where a Muslim convert shot soldiers in front of a recruiting office. continue reading
