Michele Bachmann has scrapped plans to campaign in South Carolina and called a press conference for Wednesday morning in Des Moines, Iowa, according to reports.
Bachmann — who had a disastrous showing in Iowa Tuesday night with 5 percent of the vote — will hold a media availability at 11 a.m. EST, The Associated Press reported.
Campaign manager Keith Nahigan, who confirmed reports of the news conference, would not tell the AP if Bachmann was set to drop out of the race.
Bachmann, who is an Iowa native and who won the Ames Straw poll last summer, told supporters Tuesday she would continue with her campaign, saying she was the best conservative to beat President Obama in 2012. “”In 2012, there could be another president in the White House. Who knows? There could be another Michele in the White House,” she said Tuesday night.
