So, how did those stall tactics work out for Iran?

Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili ( R) greets UN nuclear chief Yukiya Amano (L) during their official meeting on May 21, 2012 in Tehran, Iran. Amano's visit comes two days ahead of Tehran's meeting on Wednesday in Baghdad with a group of world powers, to discuss concerns over Iran's suspected nuclear weapons drive. According to U.S. News/UPI, and its report from the White House, "New Iran talks are "progress".  WASHINGTON, May 25 (UPI) -- A third round of talks among Iran and six world powers on Tehran's nuclear program is a sign of progress even with no breakthrough so far, the White House said.  "We did not expect in the prior two rounds breakthrough moments," White House spokesman Jay Carney said after the two-day second round of talks ended in Baghdad Thursday in an impasse.  The Wall Street Journal reported Friday the talks appeared at times close to breaking down.  "What we're looking for is progress," Carney told reporters. "We're looking for seriousness on the part of the Iranians in terms of addressing the concerns of the international community. And, thus far, those expectations have been met."  The next round of talks is to take place June 18 and 19 in Moscow, Western and Iranian officials said.  Read more:

However, there appears to be quite a difference of opinion between the White House report and that of Iran's. According to Iran's statements, posted by Israel National News
Baghdad Nuclear Talks"Iran Declares Impasse in Nuclear Talks.  An Iranian says 'the basis for another round of negotiations does not exist yet' after Tehran rejected demands from the world powers." Iran on Thursday rejected the proposal from the P5+1 in talks over its controversial nuclear program.
Tehran and the P5+1 – the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany – were in the second day of talks in Baghdad seeking to resolve international concerns over Iran's nuclear program. ... continue reading
And, what does Israel, the country Iran promises to "wipe off the map" think of the on-going stalling of Iran?  The Liberty Sentry has a good column on "Iran Rejects West’s Proposal on Nuclear Curbs‎:
"Israeli leaders have been critical of the talks, claiming it allows Iran to buy time and drive a wedge between Washington and Jerusalem. On Wednesday, Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak said even possible moves by Iran to open its nuclear facilities to greater U.N. inspection doesn't rule out a possible Israeli military strike." continue reading ...
The meetings between the P5+1 and Iran reminds me of an old movie "Around the world in 80 days".  These world leaders can bounce around from Iraq to Moscow, to some far away islands in the Pacific and back again, all to no avail.  The negotiations are a failure, with Iran seeking lesser sanctions, while the U.S. talks about "limited" nuclear capabilities.  Sure, allow a madman and its followers to obtain its goal, while instead of moving "forward", the world continues to back away from the greatest threat to civilization known to mankind.  Israel may be the first on Iran's list, but that would only be the beginning.  Iran's intentions have never been hidden - it threatens not only Israel, but the entire West.  Ask yourself, "How do you reason with  insanity?"  It was tired once, with Chamberlains and Hitler - how did that work out, as it took the world 5 years to stop one madman?!  And, if you remember, over 12 MILLION people murdered, tortured, cast into ovens (and worse) - the imagination of evil in the mind of a madmen knows no bounds; nor, has such evil stopped with the death of Hitler.

At the moment, Israel sees a second Holocaust looming over its skies; is she entirely alone?  Will the world stand still and allow Iran to become the next madman to destroy first, Israel, and then the entire Middle East and the West?  I refuse to believe that the United States of America will not assist Israel in protecting her nation.  It matters not that the European Union, Russia, and the U.S. "believe" in more discussions with Iran; the clock is ticking, Iran has announced nothing will prevent her from obtaining atomic weapons,  nuclear capabilities for peaceful purposes.

Who are you going to believe - an Iranian lunatic, or the wisdom of our only ally in the Middle East, Israel?  The words "Never Again" apply specifically to one race and to the only nation in this world with citizens that still have the numbers/marks tattooed to their arms.

IDF elite units learn how to cross a body of water while attacked

In a rare exercise, Combat Engineering Special Forces and others use a variety of advanced methods to battle the dangerous Jordan River current while under attack

Elite Combat Engineering unit responsible for special IDF missions, in collaboration with other forces, trained in crossing a body of water while under attack. Battling the strong current of the Jordan River, the soldiers combated enemy forces waiting for them on the other side of the bank.
The drill presented the ultimate method for transferring infantry soldiers across a body of water during combat, during both day and night time. In order to complete the mission, the commando combat engineering force used different kinds of bridges, inflatable boats and ropes in a variety of scenarios. The unit also was also responsible for securing the soldiers and weapons crossing the river, capable of rescuing them if necessary from the dangerous currents. Heavy combat engineering equipment including Caterpillar D-9 armored bulldozers were used during the drill as well, which included reconnaissance forces as well as infantry, artillery and armored units.
"This is an operational challenge we might encounter even in unexpected regions," explained former Regional Armored Division commander, Brig. Gen. Agai Yehezkel. "The purpose of this exercise is learning how to overcome this challenge," stressed Brig. Gen. Yehezkel.
A training exercise where forces are required to cross a body of water is rare in the IDF, last held four years ago. Since then many things changed in the IDF, especially in terms of technological advancements and new capabilities utilized during in the drill. The bridge the combat engineering forces laid over the body of water can extended to tens of meters in length, and is meant to significantly expedite the passage of infantry soldiers.
"We have high expectations, though I completely trust these soldiers. No enemy in northern Israel will be able to stop you," said Northern Corps commander, Maj. Gen. Noam Tivon during the drill. "Preparation is essential, so that once ordered we can operate flawlessly," he added. "Determination and toughness of our commanders is key and our training must be tough."Maj. Gen. Tivon detailed the various possible conflicts the soldiers might face, stressing the need to operate quickly and effectively.

Pakistan Bestows Mohamed Medal of Martyrdom upon Doctor Shakil Afridi

Pakistani doctor Shakil Afridii, who helped the U. S. track down Osama bin Laden, was sentenced to 33 years in prison May 23 for conspiring against the state, officials said.

By Bernie on 24 May 2012

Here's the good news: Pakistan, our ally in the war on terror, presented the Mahomad Medal of Martyrdom, Islam's highest Honor, upon Shakil Afridi, the doctor who ran a vaccination program for the CIA to collect DNA in order to verify bin Laden's presence at the compound raided by U.S. commandos last May.
Here's the bad news: you have to be dead to get the medal.
OK, I'm joking. Now of course, most of my readers would have realized the joke simply from reading the title to this article; however, believe it or not, there are many people in the world who believe Islam is a religion, and even more ridiculous, that it's a religion of peace, so it's understandable that these very same dupes are very likely to believe that Pakistan is actually an ally of ours in the war on terror and that the Pakistani would honor anyone who aided in the capture or killing of the world's most dangerous terrorist.
If there was ever any doubt whether Pakistan is a terror-supporting nation, this week's sentencing of the good doctor to 33 years in prison should end the wonder.
Doctor Afridi was arrested over 4 months ago, where was Obama all this time?
One of my favorite bloggers offers the following guess:
The US was probably too busy giving inside access for the Osama bin Laden movie
The Obama administration arranged for twoHollywood filmmakers to get special access to government officials involved in the commando operation that killed Osama bin Laden, according to a conservative legal group that posted internal government documents on its website Tuesday.

Muslim giving the finger

President Obama is more concerned with his re-election campaign than with the security of our nation. Ironically, Obama only yesterday was boasting to Air Force Grads 1 that the U.S. is more respected and safer than ever before. Huh, respect? The Pakistanis extended a big middle finger to Obama and our country. As for being safer, it's going to be real tough getting anyone to help us when they see how we left this poor guy to twist in the wind.
A real man, a real President of the most powerful nation on Earth, would have said, "This man helped all of us in the war on terror, release him now or be considered a rogue, terrorist nation." A real man, a real President would have immediately pulled the plug on all aid to Pakistan and instituted economic sanctions against them.
When will we ever get a President like Ronald Reagan again?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — President Barack Obamadeclared Wednesday the world has a "new feeling about America" and more respect for its leadership, weaving re-election themes into a commencement speech to jubilant graduates of the U.S. Air Force Academy.
"We can say with confidence and pride: The United States is stronger, safer and more respected in the world," Obama told more than 1,000 graduates, dressed in their blue dress coats and yellow sashes for a ceremony in the Air Force football stadium.

Tim McGraw – Giving Away 25 Houses to Military Families

Tim McGraw

May 24, 2012

Tim McGraw is a true American hero.
MSN: Tim McGraw is putting his fame and fortune to good use. The country music star is about to go out on a 25-city tour of the U.S., and at each stop he’ll be giving a house to a wounded or in-need member of the military. Each house will be mortgage free — as in “here are the keys to your new house, the bill’s taken care of.” “
I’ve known people my whole life who are in service to America,” McGraw said. “I think in my position to be able to do something like that is probably the ultimate thing.” Unsurprisingly, this generosity has bumped up McGraw’s attractiveness. Just ask @jenmcguireink, who tweeted, “And I thought he was hot before…

Here's one of my favorite songs - "If Your're Reading This", by Tim McGraw

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.

Early Observances of Memorial Day

The Civil War claimed more lives than any conflict in U.S. history, requiring the establishment of the country’s first national cemeteries. By the late 1860s Americans in various towns and cities had begun holding springtime tributes to these countless fallen soldiers, decorating their graves with flowers and reciting prayers.

It is unclear where exactly this tradition originated; numerous different communities may have independently initiated the memorial gatherings. Nevertheless, in 1966 the federal government declared Waterloo, New York, the official birthplace of Memorial Day. Waterloo—which had first celebrated the day on May 5, 1866—was chosen because it hosted an annual, community-wide event, during which businesses closed and residents decorated the graves of soldiers with flowers and flags.

Decoration Day

On May 5, 1862, General John A. Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War veterans, called for a nationwide day of remembrance later that month. “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed. The date of Decoration Day, as he called it, was chosen because it wasn’t the anniversary of any particular battle.

On the first Decoration Day, General James Garfieldmade a speech at Arlington National Cemetery, and 5,000 participants decorated the graves of the 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers buried there. Many Northern states held similar commemorative events and reprised the tradition in subsequent years; by 1890 each one had made Decoration Day an official state holiday. Many Southern states, on the other hand, continued to honor their dead on separate days until after World War I.

Evolution of Memorial Day

Memorial Day, as Decoration Day gradually came to be known, originally honored only those lost while fighting in the Civil War. But during World War I the United Statesfound itself embroiled in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars.

For decades, Memorial Day continued to be observed on May 30, the date Logan had selected for the first Decoration Day. But in 1968 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May in order to create a three-day weekend for federal employees; the change went into effect in 1971. The same law also declared Memorial Day a federal holiday.

Memorial Day Traditions

Cities and towns across the United States host Memorial Day parades each year, often incorporating military personnel and members of veterans’ organizations. Some of the largest parades take place in Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. Americans also observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries and memorials. On a less somber note, many people throw parties and barbecues on the holiday, perhaps because it unofficially marks the beginning of summer.
Bee's Note:
Memorial Day Memories:
I have fond memories of the Memorial Day weekends with my family.  The day began by attending the annual parade and what child does not enjoy parades?  As a young child, I did not relate this holiday as a somber one because it was one weekend when I knew I would be seeing my aunts, uncles, and cousins and there were many of us when we got together for a barbecue.  Some of the adults would also visit the cemetery, loaded down with flower baskets to place on our loved ones' graves.
Years have past and many of the family members who attended those parades and barbecues have now passed on and the graves that once reminded me of my grandparents, are now a reminder of more relatives gone before me than those who remain here on earth.  Growing old does have its drawbacks and one is the fact that so many of my beloved family members are no longer with me.  So, yes, Memorial Day is not just about barbecues any longer - it is a weekend filled with memories, both happy and sad ones - it is a landmark of time and a reminder that none of us shall live forever.  In my family, we honor not just the heroes who served in previous wars - we honor all who were a huge part of our lives.
As for the barbecues, yes, we will be attending one this year - traditions are passed on from generation to generation.  Now, the younger members of the family hold the cookouts.  However, I don't think of Memorial Day weekend as "unofficially" marking the beginning of summer, or the reason why my family holds a cookout.  For us, it allows travel time, so that those living a few states away will have time to travel to the yearly barbecue.  Three-day weekends are rare and we have traditionally learned how to take advantage of these rare times.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, corn on the cob, the strawberry desserts, and meat grilled outside are well worth the trip!  You will hear the soft sounds of music playing in the background, but it is the catching up on "family" news that is the highlight of our gathering.  And, for us, we don't need a teleprompter to express our thoughts - our thoughts are shared from our hearts and souls, with love and appreciation for everyone within our smaller-sized family, but a family who understands the importance of our freedoms, our liberty, and especially, for our nation, "under God".
Thank you, to all who have served our country - your sacrifices are remembered and we pray that each and every one of you return home, safely to your families.  And, for those who have paid the greatest sacrifice, ... the video (below) is a Memorial Day tribute to all our Veterans; the song, "Don't Cry for Me":

Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2011

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released its 2011 list of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians.” The list, in alphabetical order, includes:
Dishonorable Mentions for 2011 include:
Spencer Bachus (R-AL): He has become the face of a congressional “insider trading” scandal that has rocked the Washington establishment as 2011 draws to a close. Rep. Spencer Bachus, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, was one of the principal targets of a 60 Minutesinvestigative report on the scandal, which aired on CBS in September 2011.
The report was based, at least in part, on the book Throw Them All Out by author Peter Schweizer, which outed a slew of members of Congress who allegedly profited in the financial markets by trading on insider information. Bachus was not the only congressman cited by 60 Minutes – others included Speaker of the House John Boehner and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi – but the Alabama Republican stood out for his remarkable “good fortune” in shorting the stock market.
According to the allegations made by Schweizer and 60 Minutes, Congressman Bachus, at the time the ranking Republican on the Financial Services Committee, traded short-term stock options in 2008 after receiving a private briefing for congressional leaders by Secretary of the Treasury Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. The subject of the briefing: the pending meltdown in the global economy. Those privileged to attend the meeting reportedly sat around a table in Pelosi’s office, having left their cell phones outside the room to avoid leaks.
Congressman Bachus’s aggressive trading practices, in which he was able to benefit by betting on falling stock prices, reportedly earned him substantial profits from some of the 40 trades placed during the months of July through November 2008, many of the trades occurring after the September meeting.
In the wake of the congressional insider trading scandal, legislation banning insider trading is under consideration in Congress. The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee advanced a bill banning insider trading on December 14, 2011. Similar legislation (pushed by Rep. Bachus himself, obviously to deflect criticism) has stalled in the House. Critics have suggested, and so has the House Ethics Committee, that the law already prohibits insider trading by members of Congress.
Former Senator John Ensign (R-NV): John Ensign, former U.S. Senator from Nevada and former Chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, was forced to resign from office in May 2011 as the result of an investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee. In a scandal that first broke in 2009, Senator Ensign publicly admitted to an affair with the wife of long-time staffer Douglas Hampton. Ensign then allegedly tried to cover up the affair by bribing the couple with lucrative gifts and political favors.
According to The New York Times, after Hampton discovered the affair involving his wife Cynthia, the senator bought his silence by giving him “a strong boost into a lobbying career.” Ensign asked political backers to find Hampton a job. “Payments of $96,000 to the Hamptons also were made by Senator Ensign’s parents, who insist this was a gift, not hush money. Once a lobbying job was secured, Senator Ensign and his chief of staff continued to help Mr. Hampton, advocating his clients’ cases directly with federal agencies.”
These lobbying activities seemingly violated the law related to the Senate’s “cooling off” period for lobbyists. According toSenate rules, former Senate aides “may not lobby the Member for whom he worked or that Member’s staff for a period of one year after leaving [their] position.” Hampton began to lobby Ensign’s office immediately upon leaving his job on Capitol Hill.
In November 2010, the Federal Election Commission dismissed a complaint that Ensign had violated campaign-finance laws, and in December, the Obama Department of Justice announced that it would file no criminal charges against the senator. Ensign, however, was unable to avoid the ongoing investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee. In May 2011, the Senate Ethics Committee issued a devastating report that summarized the evidence against Ensign and made the extraordinary recommendation that the Justice Department reopen a criminal investigation.
Attorney General Eric Holder: Attorney General Eric Holder now operates the most politicized and ideological Department of Justice (DOJ) in recent history. And revelations from the Operation Fast and Furious scandal suggest that programs approved by the Holder DOJ may have resulted in the needless deaths of many, including a federal law enforcement officer.
Fast and Furious was a DOJ/Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) “gun-running” operation in which guns were sold to Mexican drug cartels and others, apparently in hopes that the guns would end up at crime scenes. This reckless insanity seems to have resulted in, among other crimes, the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was killed in a shootout with Mexican criminals in December 2010. Fast and Furious guns were found at the scene of his death.
The Fast and Furious operation by itself should have resulted in Holder’s resignation, but it is the cover-up that has prompted serious calls for Holder’s ouster.
On May 3, 2011, in a House Judiciary Committee hearing chaired by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), Holder testified: “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.” Newly releaseddocuments show he was receiving weekly briefings on Fast and Furious as far back as July 5, 2010. It appears Holder lied to Congress. (Judicial Watch sued the DOJ and the ATF to obtain Fast and Furious records. The Judicial Watch investigation continues.)
Unfortunately, when it comes to Holder corruption and abuse of office, Fast and Furious is just the tip of the iceberg.
On February 23, 2011, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that DOJ lawyers would no longer defend the constitutionality of Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), as applied to homosexual couples. DOMA had passed Congress by a vote of 85–14 in the Senate and a vote of 342–67 in the House. President Clinton signed the act into law on September 21, 1996.
Judicial Watch filed two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuits against the DOJ (including one on behalf of the Family Research Council) for records related to this pro-homosexual marriage decision. This failure to defend this federal law is unprecedented and raises serious questions as to whether President Obama and Eric Holder are upholding their oaths of office and following the Constitution’s command to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”
The DOJ continues to stonewall the release of information regarding Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan’s participation in Obamacare discussions when she served as Solicitor General. In addition to forcing Judicial Watch to file a lawsuit to obtain this information, Holder’s DOJ thumbed its nose at Congress by failing to release this material to the Senate Judiciary Committee during Kagan’s judicial confirmation hearing. Holder continues to personally resist requests from Judicial Watch and Congress for additional information on this controversy. Kagan’s role in these discussions is especially significant now that the U.S. Supreme Court has announced it will consider challenges to the constitutionality of Obamacare in Spring 2012.
New revelations emerged in 2011 about the DOJ’s Black Panther scandal. Judicial Watch uncovered evidence that the liberal special interest group National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) may have had an inappropriate amount of influence on the DOJ’s decision to drop its voter intimidation lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense. This comes on the heels of sworn testimony that the Civil Rights Division of the Holder DOJ makes enforcement decisions based upon race.
Most recently, Judicial Watch obtained shocking documents suggesting the Holder DOJ is conspiring with scandal-ridden Project Vote (President Obama’s former employer and ACORN front) to use the National Voter Registration Act to increase welfare voter registrations. One former ACORN employee (and current Project Vote Director of Advocacy), Estelle Rogers, is even helping to vet job candidates for the Justice Department’s Voting Rights Division! (ACORN and Project Vote have a long record of voter registration fraud.)
Seeming to affirm ACORN’s hijacking of the DOJ, Holder recently said in a speech that he plans to use “the full weight” of the agency in 2012 to attack states that are enforcing laws that protect against fraud in the voting booths. This speech ended the pretense that the DOJ is independent from the Democratic National Committee and the Obama campaign – as it repeated almost verbatim the partisan arguments made by the Democratic Party against voter ID laws.
Holder must go. Pick your reason – Black Panthers, race-based decision making, abandoning the Defense of Marriage Act, Fast and Furious killings and lies, or turning the DOJ into an arm of the radicalized left – but Holder must go.

Former Obama Friend and Terrorist Receives DOJ Grant Money

NOTE:  Here's just another example of crooked politics in Washington, DC.  Anyone paying attention?!

Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohm

by JIM KOURI, CPP May 23, 2012

The Obama Justice Department awarded a group headed by a domestic terrorist, -- and one-time FBI fugitive with close ties to President Barack Obama -- hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars "to reduce racial disparities in the juvenile justice system," according to a leading Inside the Beltway watchdog group.
"This is a story you likely won't see in the mainstream media, but a reputable political magazine exposed it this week," according to officials at Judicial Watch, an organization that investigates and exposes government corruption and abuse.
According to Judicial Watch's Corruption Chronicles, Department of Justice has already given $400,000 in grants to an organization that blames disproportionately high criminal behavior among minority juvenile delinquents on discrimination. The San Francisco-based nonprofit describes itself as a leading organization in the field of juvenile justice and ethnic and racial disparities reduction.
Among the institute's board of directors is Bernardine Dohrn, a longtime Obama supporter and fundraiser and proud member of the Weather Underground, a radical group that used explosives to attack the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and other government buildings to protest U.S. policy.  She and her group are believed responsible for the killing and wounding police officers, as well.
Dohrn's violent actions earned her a slot on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list during the 1970s. She eventually served probation and spent some time in jail for refusing to cooperate with an investigation, the Judicial Watch blog states.
Dohrn is married to William Ayers, the co-founder of the Weather Underground. Like his wife, Ayers was also an FBI fugitive who has proudly admitted planting bombs in government buildings during the Vietnam era. In fact, he has publicly said that he doesn't regret his terrorist acts and that in fact his group "didn't do enough."
More recently, the American contingent of the Free Gaza Movement was led by President Barack Obama's friends and supporters Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and Jody Davis, who also heads Code Pink. The Free Gaza Movement boasts the names of Bill Ayers,Noam Chomsky, Adam Shapiro and other American radicals allegedly devoted to destroying the United States and Israel.
"The couple has long supported Obama's political career by donating money to his campaigns and hosting fundraisers at their Chicago home. For years they all hung out in the same political and social circles, lived in the same Chicago neighborhood and Obama and Ayers served on the board of a leftwing Chicago nonprofit. However, during the 2008 presidential campaign Obama worked hard to distance himself from his terrorist pals," according to Corruption Chronicles
"Using the generous DOJ grant as a guide, it appears that Dohrn is still benefiting from the relationship with Obama. How else could one explain the DOJ grant?" the Judicial Watch blog asks. "As the article that broke the story points out, Dohrn has a history with the Justice Department and it isn't good. Why would the agency responsible for enforcing the law and defending the country against the attacks she once carried out give her taxpayer dollars?"
Dohrn refused to comment about the Judicial Watch allegations.

Group Headed By Weather Underground Terrorist Gets DOJ Grants

Jerusalem hospital shows off vaccine that destroys cancer in 2 shots.

Hadassah Medical Centre, Jerusalem

Early human test results suggest a vaccine can train cancer patients’ bodies to seek out and destroy tumour cells.
The therapy, which targets a molecule found in 90 per cent of cancers, eventually could provide an injection that would allow patients’ immune systems to fight off common cancers including breast and prostate cancer.
The first results of trials in people, at the Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem, suggest the vaccine can reduce levels of disease. The human work is so preliminary it has yet to be published in a scientific journal. The scientists behind the vaccine hope to conduct more extensive trials to prove it can be effective
against a range of cancers. They believe it could be used to fight small tumours if they are detected early or to help prevent the return and spread of disease in patients who have undergone conventional treatment.
In the safety trial at Hadassah, 10 patients with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, received the vaccine. Seven have finished the treatment and the developer, drug company Vaxil Biotherapeutics, reported all had greater immunity against cancer cells compared with before they were given the vaccine. Vaxil added that three patients were free of detectable cancer following the treatment.
Cancer cells usually evade a patient’s immune system because they are not recognized as a threat. While the immune system usually attacks foreign cells such as bacteria, tumours are formed of the patient’s own cells that have malfunctioned.
Scientists have discovered that a molecule called MUC1, which is found on the surface of cancer cells, can be used to help the immune sys-tem detect tumours. The new vaccine, ImMucin, developed by Vaxil and researchers at Tel Aviv University, uses a section of the molecule to prime the immune system so it can identify and thus destroy cancer cells.
Vaxil suggested that if large-scale trials prove as successful, the vaccine could be available within six years. Initial research on the vaccine, in mice, was published in the journal Vaccine, and suggested the treatment induced “potent” immunity in mice and increased their survival from cancer.
Cancer charities gave the vaccine a cautious welcome. Dr. Kat Arney, at Cancer Research UK, said: “These are very early results that are yet to be fully published, so there’s a lot more work to be done to prove that this particular vaccine is safe and effective in cancer patients.”

A Sky Above Jerusalem - video

“For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” — Isaiah 2:3

"Arab sovereignty in Jerusalem just cannot be.  This city will not be
divided - not half and half, not 60-40, not 75-25."  - Golda Meir

"We do not rejoice in victories.  We rejoice when a new kind of
cotton is grown and when strawberries bloom in Israel." - Golda Meir

Why Do Jews Love Jerusalem?

The Jews' love ofJerusalem as Judaism's permanent capital stems from the Torah itself. The Holy City is referenced hundreds of times throughoutTanach (the Five Books of Moses, Prophets and Writings, also known as the Written Torah). The Talmud elaborates in great depth our bond with that city. On the other hand, it is never mentioned in the Koran, no matter what is claimed by the Muslim world.
Concerning our fixation on Israel in general and Jerusalem specifically, one may ask, "Why do we focus so much attention on one place? Is G-d's Presence not found everywhere?"
The question may be broadened regarding time as well. We can ask, "Why are certain days considered holy? Can G-d's presence not be experienced at any time?"
The answer is it is true that G-d's Presence can be experienced everywhere at any time. That is because G-d is unlimited and indeed created both time and space, and so He is superior to both. Nonetheless, the Torah (a creation of G-d that also supersedes time and space) decrees that there are special times and special places.
As the Torah represents G-d's immutable will, we see that the holiness of Jerusalem does not waiver nor diminish. It has always been and will always be the holiest place in the world.
In fact, we find that the holiness of Jerusalem surpasses that of Mt. Sinai. That is because the holiness revealed on Sinai came through G-d's arousal and revelation to the people. The people themselves did not cause the giving of the Torah to occur. On the other hand, the holiness of Jerusalem came specifically as a result of the efforts of humankind. It was human hands that built the Holy Temples and consecrated the ground of Jerusalem. This adds to the permanent holiness.
King David, great prophet that he was, purchased the land for the Holy Temple from the local inhabitants, knowing full well the holiness of the site.
