Egypt Imposes Emergency Rule as Police Storm Camps

By Salma El Wardany, Ola Galal and Mariam Fam

Egypt’s army-backed government declared a state of emergency and clamped a curfew on large parts of the country after security forces stormed Islamist protest camps, leaving at least 149 dead.
Mohamed ElBaradei, the Nobel laureate, resigned as vice president, saying he didn’t want to bear responsibility for “bloodshed that could have been avoided,” according to a statement from his office. Members of the Muslim Brotherhood group leading the protests to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Mursi occupied the Finance Ministry and were holding hostages, and parts of the building were on fire, state media reported. Egypt’s main stock index posted the biggest drop among global benchmarks.
The government announced a monthlong state of emergency after armed police hurling tear gas charged into two Cairo squares that Mursi’s supporters had occupied weeks earlier to protest his overthrow by the military. Officials said almost 150 people were killed nationwide, while the Muslim Brotherhood said the toll was many times higher. At least two foreign journalists and the daughter of a Brotherhood leader were among the dead.
Authorities later rounded up eight Muslim Brotherhood leaders, including Essam El-Erian, vice-chairman of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, security official Yasser Abdel-Raouf said by phone.

U.S. Condemns

The Obama administration said it opposes the imposition of emergency rule and “strongly condemns” the crackdown.

Bee's note:

The Muslim Brotherhood is demonstrating that they will not "step down" quietly.

Interesting to many American Patriots is the fact that the Obama Administration was all for Murbarak "stepping down" (which he did!), while condemning the rule of law in Egypt against the terrorist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi's gang.

The Muslim Brotherhood and its Sharia laws are contradictory to "Democracy". Morsi placed Sharia law into his administration's rules of law after elections!

Gaza held "democratic" elections and voted for Hamas - another terrorist organization. The Palestinian people had spoken, made their decision, and chose terrorists to lead their people.  What did the US do?  They ignored Hamas (of course!), but decided to choose Fatah's Abbas as a "moderate" Palestinian, to represent the PLO/Palestinians, even though Abbas has no power to make decisions for the Palestinians.  Are you following along with me?  Obama's support for Morsi is the same as supporting Hamas.  Hypocrisy reigns in Washington.  As Hillary Clinton is famous for asking, "What's the difference?"  What's the difference between Morsi and Hamas? None!

Americans reject ALL forms of terrorism and Islamist terrorist organizations, including Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. If Washington cannot define the enemy of the United States, then we need to replace our representatives immediately with those who have America's best interests in mind when choosing our allies.  To my knowledge, the only democratic nation in the Middle East, to-date, is Israel.

Many states within the United States are passing laws to protect its citizens from Sharia law, which is the opposite of the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Right.   Fox News announced this morning that over 30 states have elected to pass bills into law rejecting Sharia law.  Sharia law has been brought into our courts, and there are even members connected to the Muslim Brotherhood (six) holding key position in Washington, DC.  America is not exempt from terrorism within its borders.

Granted, Egypt is not the United States, but if we're going to discuss "democracy", the Muslim Brotherhood's concept of "rule of law" is Islamist Extremism and it amazes many here in America that the "President" of the U.S. would continue supporting the Muslim Brotherhood!

One last thought: Recently (and reported on this blog) reports are coming in that Morsi had a part in the murders of our diplomats in Benghazi.  If true, those charges could help Americans understand the Obama administration's continued support for Morsi.  Strange "bedfellows" don't you think?
