They are dying off by the thousands every day now. The youngest ones would be in their mid- eighties, and many of them , depending on the state of their physical and mental faculties, would probably not appreciate the extent to which their country has been so disparaged the past three years. But it has.
They have been called ‘the Greatest Generation’. They may have been the greatest, they may have not been, but the extent to which they furthered the American dream after coming out of the Great Depression and World War 2 and persevering through the Cold War is a tale of epic proportions, at the very least.
Now, the great thing about the United States of America is that we have as a cardinal tenet of our political society something called freedom of speech, freedom of expression. Everyone, from the vagrant on the street to the occupant of the mansion on the hill, is entitled to his opinion. And position or place is no disqualifier, nor is it to be granted favor, in matters of expressing that opinion. We are to prize the soapbox as much as the rostrum. And one’s opinion, or way of looking at things, does not have to have sanction from any quarter. In fact, someone’s opinion, or take, or viewpoint on even generally accepted items from history can differ significantly from conventional wisdom or accepted factual account either based on new information or merely because of ideological slant.
With one great big exception. When one is the sitting President of the United States, and in the course of performing the duties and functions of that office, and concerning matters of war, peace, national security and national honor, and in upholding the considered wisdom of past governments and expressions of the sense of the nation by Congressional Acts or Executive decisions, and what actions were taken by any or all of them to preserve, protect and defend the United States of America from all enemies, foreign and domestic, one does not do that which has been brought to light as being attributed to the 44th President of the United States, Barack H. Obama, that being the attempted official apology for US actions in securing victory in the Pacific in 1945. IT IS NOT DONE.
A heretofore secret cable dated Sept. 3, 2009, was recently released by WikiLeaks. Sent to Secretary of State Clinton, it reported Japan’s Vice Foreign Minister Mitoji Yabunaka telling U.S. Ambassador John Roos that “the idea of President Obama visiting Hiroshima to apologize for the atomic bombing during World War II is a ‘nonstarter.’”
All of the considerations and deliberations that went into the decisions to use the full extent of our military arsenal to secure the defeat of Japan are matters of historical record. What Barack Obama understands about World War 2, or Japan, or America, or the Greatest Generation, or history and leadership in general is open to question . What is not in question is his judgement. He has none. The question is not what his opinions about the advisability of past actions of the US Government are, the question is what he does, and what he attempted to do is unconscionable.
The members of the Greatest Generation, in these late stages of their lives, may not all fully comprehend the magnitude and the gravity of Obama’s error(s), and as we said, there are fewer and fewer of them around to notice these days. But we, the sons and daughters of that generation, know all too well. And we are not the least bit happy about it.

Is it any wonder that the world, in general, and its leaders, specifically, have lost all respect for the United States of America under this president, the Apologist-in-Chief?! Is it any wonder that Egypt can send Panetta packing, without obtaining the release of our US citizen, Grapel? Is it any wonder that the Idiot from Iran can sit in a plush NYC hotel, rant at a UN Conference, instead of being arrested the moment he stepped off the plane for crimes against humanity; all the while, knowing there was a secret agenda to assassinate a Saudi ambassador and Israel's Embassy? Oh, Iran claims it had 'no idea" of the plot, but I believe that as much as I believe Iran is obtaining nuclear capabilities to conserve on light bulbs. And, is it any wonder bin Laden was found in the midst of Pakistan, surrounded by an elite Pakistani military training ground? Oh, but Pakistan is an "ally" of the US! Yup, and so is the poppy-growing, Talaban shooting, corrupt government of Afghanistan.
Obama, soft-pedals all that is wrong in this world, while maintaining a smirk on his face that folks call a "smile", not knowing or caring that his attempts to apologize for America's greatness should be cause for Congress to take a deep look into exactly what this man says and does that is against the best interest of the United States of America.
